Sam | Birth Doula

Wife, Mom, & Coffee Lover

I was born in Edmonton and raised on an acreage just outside of Camrose with my two older brothers and a lot of animals. Growing up on the farm really instilled in me a love for all things outdoors. We had every kind of wacky animal you could imagine as we tried to figure out what our niche was which allowed for some pretty fun adventures.

After graduating high school I had a big interest in law and so I started with securing three years of a psychology undergrad before I realized that maybe it wasn’t the right path for me. In the midst of figuring out my passions I did a quick detour over to Florida for a year to work for Mickey Mouse. Once I came back to Alberta I secured a certificate in bookkeeping and accounting technology which allowed me to work at an accounting firm before I got accepted to NAIT for my Veterinary Medical Assistant program.

As a newly wed and a student, life was busy, fun, and fast! I worked as a vet assistant for a year before going on maternity leave with our firstborn son and have loved every moment of it.

Having the incredible childbirth experiences I did (all credit to God, my doula and supportive husband) I knew I wanted to pursue a doula career to give women the same amazing birth experience that I had. I truly believe women are strong, capable, and are designed perfectly for their baby. I am honoured that you have placed your trust in me, that I get to be a part of your journey and your birth team and I am so excited to get started!

"Birth is not only about making babies.

Birth is about making mothers - strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."
