Hanna | Certifying Birth & Postpartum Doula

Wife, Mountain Lover

I was born in Prince George, BC but was raised in Leduc with my three younger sisters. We were close knit and I was able to see them as babies and help out (basically grew up being a doula - ha!).

Fast forward to high school, I started to pursue nannying helping more families and seeing a lack of care as some of my families started to have new babies. I remember watching a documentary about how hospitals in the United States operate more like a business and this birthed in me the dream to be a doula and support mothers through this beautiful transition in life.

In 2017 I got certified to be a Birth Doula but was unable to connect and get the dream up and running. I was just not ready. So I took a minor detour to being a manager at lululemon and then a year of Bible School in Chilliwack BC. Unfortunately, Covid sent me back to Alberta.

During the pandemic I was blessed to find my husband and this dream of being a doula continued to grow in my mind. I was able to re-certify as a Doula and started my journey as Mosaic Birth Services. This time around I grew so much as a doula and a business woman. The journey along the way prepared me to be where I am today and have the opportunity to be a part of Motherhood Matters.

I fell in love with the idea of helping women birth their babies, but quickly learnt of the lack of support some women can feel during their pregnancy and birth. I knew there must be a better way. A way that leads to better connection with our children and families. It was in these moments that this beautiful vision grew in my heart. My hope is that I can provide the support that you so greatly deserve and help you achieve a positive birth experience. I look forward to building a relationship with you!

I had Hanna at my 2nd birth and I am so thankful for her kind and nurturing support. I wish I had her at my first birth because she was able to keep me focused when it got hard. My midwife was busy checking on baby and my husband was pressure pointing, so that allowed Hanna to stay in front of me where I could see and hear her. She kept speaking encouragement when I needed it. I definitely recommend her as your support doula because those extra set of hands and encouraging words are exactly what you need before you meet your precious little new one.
